Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) has released the Recruitment 2026 notification for 590 Paramedical posts. The online application process will be conducted from 15 September 2026 to 14 October 2026. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 05/2026 for the Recruitment of Various Categories of Para-Medical staff. This is a centralised notification issued across all RRBs for 9 distinct Paramedical posts, including Nursing Superintendent, Pharmacist, Radiographer X-Ray Technician, ECG Technician, Optometrist, and Lab Assistant Grade II.

RRB CEN 05/2026 Age Limit
Age is reckoned as on 01.01.2027. The lower and upper age limits vary by post, as shown in the Vacancy table above (ranging from 18–33 years to 20–40 years). Date of birth must match the Matriculation/SSLC certificate; no subsequent change will be considered.

If a candidate is eligible for relaxation on more than one ground, only the maximum single relaxation applies (not cumulative). SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR vacancies will not get any age relaxation.

- Fee payment modes: internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI only — no other mode is accepted.
- Applications received without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
- Refunds are credited only to the candidate's Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
- EBC (Economically Backward Class), EWS (Economically Weaker Section), and OBC are three distinct categories — EBC candidates get only fee concession, not job reservation.
RRB CEN 05/2026 Selection Process
Selection consists of a Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination.
- The CBT is of 90 minutes' duration for 100 questions (120 minutes for PwBD/PWD candidates eligible for the Scribe facility), with objective multiple-choice questions (4 options, 1 correct answer).
- There is negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer.

The subject/section-wise distribution is indicative and may vary. CBT questions are available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional Indian languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu).

These percentages also apply to Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates as per their community, and may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage against reserved vacancies. Shortlisting for Document Verification will be done RRB-wise at the rate of 1:1 of vacancies, strictly on CBT merit. In case of a tie, the older candidate is ranked higher; if age is also the same, alphabetical order of the given name is used.
Final empanelment is based on CBT merit, subject to successful Document Verification and passing the prescribed Medical Examination. RRBs only recommend empanelled candidates — the appointment offer is issued by the respective Railway Administration.
How to Apply for RRB CEN 05/2026
- Visit the unified RRB website, https://rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and navigate to the relevant individual RRB webpage.
- "Create an Account" using a valid personal mobile number and active email ID (mandatory for OTPs). Candidates who already have an account from earlier RRB CENs (2024/2025/2026) should use the same login credentials.
- Authenticate your identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar at the account-creation stage for smoother verification at later stages (alternate Photo ID verification means stricter scrutiny).
- Fill the online application form with your chosen RRB, Railway Zone and post preferences — only one RRB can be selected, and options once exercised are final.
- Capture a live photograph via webcam or mobile front camera as prompted (no pre-existing photo upload); wear non-white/dark clothing, no cap, mask or glasses.
- Upload your scanned signature and other mandatory documents as specified in the application.
- Choose your medium of examination from the available language options.
- Submit the application and proceed to pay the examination fee online (net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI) — acceptance of the application is final only after fee payment confirmation.
- Complete submission before 14.10.2026 (23:59 hrs), and complete fee payment by 16.10.2026.
- Use the modification window (17.10.2026 to 26.10.2026, with a ₹250 fee per correction) if any details (other than "Create an Account" data and chosen RRB) need correction.
Multiple applications to different RRBs, or the same RRB, will result
in rejection of all applications and may lead to disqualification and
debarment from the recruitment process and future RRB/RRC examinations.
RRB CEN 05/2026 Important Instructions
- Candidates must fulfil all prescribed educational and technical qualifications on or before the closing date; those awaiting final results are not eligible.
- RRB-wise and Railway-wise vacancies are provisional and may increase or decrease per Railway administration requirements.
- Candidates can choose only one RRB and indicate preferences for Railway Zones and posts within that RRB; options once exercised are final.
- Candidature is provisional at all stages; certificates for educational qualification, age, caste/category, etc. are verified only at the time of Document Verification.
- Crucial date for claiming SC/ST/OBC/EWS/EBC status or any other benefit is the closing date for online application submission, unless specified otherwise.
- Candidates must fulfil the prescribed medical standards for their opted post; those found medically unsuitable will not be given an alternative appointment.
- City/centre allocation and CBT dates are based on technical and logistical feasibility; requests for change of exam date/centre/shift will not be entertained.
- Details filled in the "Create an Account" form (including mobile number and email ID) and chosen RRB cannot be modified at any stage.
- Banned items in the examination hall include mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, and other electronic gadgets; violation leads to cancellation of candidature and debarment.
- Mock/practice tests will be made available on RRB websites to familiarize candidates with the online examination process.
